Improved Sleep |
Take Control of your Mind for Better SleepBy Tim Smale D.Hyp.BA (Hons) - Founder, Mindworks - www.mindworkslondon.com In the course of my work as a mind coach and clinical hypnotist, one aspect of human behaviour that never ceases to amaze me is the frequency that I get asked to help clients, of all age class and sex to have better quality sleep. Sleep seems to be the vital ingredient that makes everything else tick- good health, good relationships and efficient work- without sleep our general well-being is undermined and impaired. So much so that by giving clients permission to sleep you can directly impact the quality of their life and happiness and perspective on other issues, changes for the better Without good sleep the workings of the subconscious mind are undermined. Bad sleep causes tension and tiredness and can lead to physical symptoms such as IBS, migraine and other common manifestations of stress. When a client is suffering stress, or low-level anxiety then they rarely perform to their potential and other negative symptoms kick in, like fear, or focusing on negative outcomes. Naturally thinking about a negative outcome usually causes a negative outcome and so the spiral goes on. Without confidence and self-belief then its all too easy to assume the worst or feel that you are not good enough, which is why confident people do well and unconfident people get steamrollered, often by less able or talented people. But we can all improve our confidence with a better perspective on life, with more mental calmness and relaxation. The cortisol and adrenalin release of the classic fight or flight scenario are helpful to our health and well-being, but not if its happening on a regular basis at the simplest of triggers. Taking control of this scenario often helps, better sleep also as our minds recognise that we are safe to comfortably drift off to sleep, without worrying about things we often cant affect. |
